No, never. JW Fusion runs 100% locally on your computer or phone inside your browser. Your backup files never leave your device. No cloud storage is used, no account or login is required, and no analytics track your backup contents.
JW Fusion is available as a native app for Windows desktop — you can download it directly from this site. It's also available as a native Android app — get it on Google Play.

For iOS (iPhone / iPad), Mac, and Linux, JW Fusion operates as an installable Progressive Web App (PWA). Simply open this website in Safari or Chrome, tap Share → Add to Home Screen, and you will have a full offline app experience directly on your device.
To uninstall: on Windows/Mac/Linux/ChromeOS, open chrome://apps (or edge://apps), right-click the JW Fusion icon, and choose Remove/Uninstall — or right-click its taskbar/dock/Start Menu icon directly. On Android, long-press the JW Fusion icon on your home screen and choose Uninstall. On iPhone/iPad, long-press the icon and choose Remove App / Delete App, same as any other app.

To reinstall at any point: just open jwfusion.org in your browser again and use Add to Home Screen (iOS/Android) or the install icon in the address bar (Chrome/Edge on desktop). Nothing needs to be downloaded from anywhere else — the installable app always comes from this same website, so it's never lost for good.
JW Fusion tracks and merges five specific user data categories:
  • Notes (custom titles, content, timestamps, and locations)
  • Highlights (colors, text token selections, and publication references)
  • Bookmarks (custom slots and publication markers)
  • Tags (custom tag categories and note mappings)
  • Playlists (media playlists, position ordering, and markers)
The merger engine compares entries across all imported backup databases. Identical notes, highlights on the same verses, matching bookmarks, and duplicate tag names are merged cleanly without creating redundant duplicate rows or corrupting database indexes.
Yes. The Explore tool lets you open a single .jwlibrary backup and search or browse its notes, grouped by scripture or publication, without merging anything. It's read-only — nothing in your file is changed, and nothing is uploaded.
Yes. From the Explore tool, you can export whatever notes are currently visible — all of them, or just the ones matching your search — as Markdown, CSV, or JSON. Markdown works well with note-taking apps like Obsidian; CSV opens in a spreadsheet; JSON is the raw structured data.
  1. Open the JW Library app on your phone, tablet, or computer.
  2. Go to the Personal Study tab (or tap Settings).
  3. Tap Backup and Restore.
  4. Tap Create a Backup and save the .jwlibrary file to your device storage or files app.

  4. Select the downloaded merged file. JW Library will reload your personal study data with all notes, highlights, bookmarks, tags, and playlists combined!
